Let Me Be "Blunt"

My boss loves to smoke those huge Blunts (he prefers the Grape ones). Every time he opens one of the plastic containers, he looks at me and says "There has to be something you can do with these containers". I took that as a challenge!

In honor of the great amount of snow we have received here in the Mid-West, I came up with this great project.

I call this "Three Happy Snowmen". The snow men were made from the plastic containers that the Blunt Cigars come in, the feet, under the bottom, is the caps off the containers. The hats and scarves are made from scrap material.

The only thing you have to remember is that the containers are plastic, it's very hard to paint plastic. Heres what I did...

I lightly sanded the container, to allow it to accept the paint, then I used primer to coat the whole thing, including the caps. It will take several coats of primer before the whole thing is coated. Paint it any way you like from this point.

Have you ever spent hours or even days putting that great puzzle together only to take it apart again because you have no where to put it? Well, Don't! Puzzles make great pictures, they just need a little bit of tweaking. This puzzle looks great with the custom frame my husband made from recycled wood. It was really simple, he just traced around the outline of the completed puzzle to make the pattern, it looks great don't you think? Give it a try, you really have nothing to lose.

If you're like me, then you're always on the lookout for great gift ideas to make for your friends and family. I have tried to put together some of the better ideas in this blog. The following idea is one of my favorites!
Have you ever been to a yard sale and come across a great picture frame? Wanting to buy it, but not knowing what to do with it, you pass it by. Don't! I have a great project that will turn that simple frame into a wonderful functional piece of furniture.
Take the picture frame (a large one works best) add the picture of your choice, it can be of family, nature, abstract, any thing you want. Add legs to each corner (on the back of the frame), Put handles on both sides of the shorter ends of the frame. Varnish it and now you have a great new serving tray. I love mine!

I have a unique way to create a great wall hanging while using up that scrap fabric that you love but don't know what to do with it.

This fabric was originally designed as a three panel. My husband stretched the fabric onto some canvus and framed it like you would any other picture.

This wall hanging is so easy you could make it in less than an hour (minus the frame). Not to mention, with all the great fabric out there skies the limit when it comes to pattern and color.

Since, here in the Mid-West, we're getting buried under the snow I thought I would stick with the theme. Years ago, my husband and I were obsessed with candle making. We made small candles, big candles, long candles, short candles ... I could go on. One unique way to make, one of a kind candles, is to make snow candles.

Snow candles are made by piling snow into the shape and depth you desire, then pouring the hot wax into the snow mold you just made (don't forget to add the wick).

The wax cools and forms instantly when exposed to the cold snow so move quickly. Give it a try it's fun.

This Indian Motorcycle was woodburned onto a piece of pine cut from a neighbors yard.

Anyone can woodburn (provided you understand that the woodburner is 900 degrees or more). Give it a try, you never know, you might find a new hobbie. Not to mention the great gift you could create. Plus, you could do something good for the environment.

If you're looking to make a quick and easy gift for the woman in your life, consider something like this. It really was quite easy, just choose a couple diferent color beads (4 or 5). make sure they complement each other. When stringing the beads, string two strands of each color, this makes the necklace fuller. This necklace has so many colors that it looks great with anything.
