A couple of years ago, I was really into jewelry making. I would spend hours working on my latest creation. The wonderful part about beading is that there are almost always beads left over. I had this idea one day while looking through my spare beads. I've made this style of necklace before, however I don't usually use expensive beads, it keeps the sale cost down, in this necklace, I went for it. This necklace is a mix of silver beads and some scrap beads I had laying around. I hope you like it. It's pretty easy to make, just use mine as a reference. You should be able to look at it and come up with one of your own without a pattern.

Just as a small note: It is nearly impossible to make a necklace look good in a picture (unless you're a professional). This necklace looks much better in person, and the way that it lays on the chest is so nice. It's one of my favorites.

Sometimes I like to work with clay. If you like to craft and use clay, then you know how much the suppilies cost. I personally am not an artist (meaning that I cant draw or sculpt), but I can make just about anything I want with clay. The secret is to use something you already have as a mold.

For example: I have a passion for carousel horses, and one day I wanted to make a carousel charm for a bracelet I've been working on. I cannot make a horse, much less a carousel horse, however, I do have a small music box with carousel horses on it. All I did was take a small round piece of clay and molded the horse. After the mold is hardened, the I used it to make the charms that I needed. This technique works great, But you may have to try it a couple of times to get just the right look you're after. The clay is moldable until you bake it, so keep trying till you get it just right.

Once you have your mold, you can make as many charms as you want.

*if you use some scrap clay to make the mold, then you won't have to waste your good clay. Try it, it's fun!!

Who ever said that paper isn't good for anything except to write on. I have three children, and you wouldn't believe how many pieces of paper they bring home in one weeks time. I decided that I was going to come up with a really great project that would last for years to come.

If tou take strips of paper and cut them into long triangles, then start with the bigger end, start rolling it up, around a pencil or wooden skewer until you get to the end. once you've finished rolling it, glue the whole surface of the "bead" and let it dry.

I took the paper beads and mixed them with wooden beads and clay faces I made, and made a beaded curtain out of them. I love the look and no one else has one like it. The best of all is that the paper I used will never end up in the landfill.

It really was quite easy, just choose a couple diferent color beads (4 or 5). make sure they complement each other. When stringing the beads, string two strands of each color, this makes the necklace fuller. This necklace has so many colors that it looks great with anything.

Buttons aren't just for shirts anymore

If you're anything like me, then you have a plastic container full of stray buttons. I find them all over the house, not knowing where they belong, I can't seem to throw them out.

I have so many spare buttons, that I had to think of something to do with them.

This bracelet is one of the Ideas I came up with. The Dragonflies are buttons. It was really easy to make. I used buttons, wire and some pearl beads. Try making one for yourself or as a gift.

When it comes to crafting and recycling, skys the limit. You have to keep your eyes open for re-usable items. I find things every where. One day my husband and I were shopping thrift stores, looking for treasures, when I stumbled on an old necklace. I fell in love with the beads and quickly bought it (I believe I spent $1.35). My mind was racing on the way home. What could I do with these wonderful beads, I wondered.

Finally, I sat down and began to create. When I was finished (many hours later) I had before me a new; one of a kind pair of earrings, bracelet, and necklace.

I call the set Blue Ice. I hope you like it.

Beaded Red Rose

This pin would make a great Mother's Day gift or it could be given as a small token of appreciation.

Every year for Mother's Day I try to make a little something special for the women I work with. This small pin was perfect. I got the idea from a book I was reading. In the book (I'm sorry I don't remember the name) they were making a purse I think. I decided to take the technique I learned and turn it into something pretty.

I will try to walk you through the steps to make this everlasting flower. This pin only takes about Ten minutes to make, so you can have a bouquet in no time.

You will need:

• Atleast two colors of seed beads (I used Red and Dark Green)
• about 24" of very thin wire (26 or 28 gauge will work fine)
• A pin back
• A Wire cutter and pliers

Thread 30 "flower color" beads onto the wire (go about to the middle of the wire). After you add the last bead, fold it into a loop and twist the wire ends together. You will have a loop of beads in the middle of the wire.

Repeat this process until you have four loops side by side. Rotate between the two wire ends when threading the beads.




Take all four loops and twist them together to make it look like a flower bud.


Thread 15 "stem color" beads under the "Bud" and loop it. Do this twice, once on each wire. Once you're done, push them up against the "Bud" so they look like the leaves around a flower. Twisting the wire ends together under the whole thing.


Thread several "stem color" beads onto both wires together. (about 5 or 6 beads). Seperate the wires and thread about 15 "stem color" beads onto one of the wires and create a loop. then twist the wires back together.



Thread about 16 more " stem color" beads onto the wires. Thread the last bead in opposite directions on the two wires to finish it off. Use the wire cutter to snip the excess wire and the pliers to smooth out the edges.


Use hot glue to attach the pin back and enjoy.
